REGARDING COMPULSORY ASSIGNMENTS AND OTHER ELEMENTS 

 As part of the competency evaluation requirementsSTATEMENT of the first year of the program, students are required to successfully complete all compulsory courses and the following assignments and other elements:

  1. a case brief and analytical comment n Law 405: Fundamental Legal Skills,
  2. a closed research memorandum n Law 405: Fundamental Legal Skills,
  3. a practice moot exercise in Law 405: Fundamental Legal Skills,
  4. a research log in Law 405: Fundamental Legal Skills,
  5. a legislative drafting exercise in Law 403 Legislation, Administration and Policy; and,
  6. a graded factum and moot assignment (including an open research component) in a prescribed first year course.

Each first year student must achieve satisfactory performance in each required course and satisfactory performance in each of the required elements of those courses with the exception of the drafting requirement in LAP.  "Satisfactory performance" is a minimum grade of C- in a course graded on the 12 band scale and a grade of CR in a course graded on a CR\D\F basis.

As part of the competency evaluation requirements of the upper years of the program, students are required to successfully complete all compulsory courses and the following additional elements:

  1. the upper year writing requirement, and
  2. the international requirement.

Each upper year student must achieve satisfactory performance in each required course and satisfactory performance in both of the required elements.   "Satisfactory performance" is a minimum grade of C- in a course graded on the 12 band scale and a grade of CR in a course graded on a CR\D\F basis.
