Association of Women Lawyers

The Association of Women Lawyers (AWL) was founded in 1994 by a group of women lawyers who saw a need for an organization dedicated to the advancement, equality, interests and well-being of women lawyers in Calgary. The AWL does some charitable work with causes benefiting women, but is primarily a social network and offers many opportunities for networking with other women lawyers. We have “Yak and Snaks” throughout the year, which are social evenings at a local restaurant. We enjoy several “Lunch and Learns” throughout the year where we enjoy a presentation of interest, for example, most recently, a video and presentation on volunteer work in Ethiopia. In the spring we have a celebration to honour the new calls to the bar, with a guest speaker, and we have a fun wine tasting evening. We have an annual golf tournament in August and a 2 day retreat at the Rimrock hotel in Banff in October with a focus on professional development and enriching our friendship and comradery.

Full details about the AWL are available on our web site. Students are welcome to join the Association without membership dues payable. You can download a membership form here
