The Calgary Association of Women and the Law

The Calgary Association of Women and the Law (CAWL) is a voluntary organization comprised of lawyers, students and laypeople who are interested in raising public awareness on issues concerning the status and rights of women in our society. The organization hosts meetings, conferences, and forums, presents briefs to legislators on matters relating to women and the law, and supports efforts of groups and individuals working to change discriminatory laws and practices. CAWL is a regional caucus of the National Association of Women and the Law, a national non-profit women’s organization which promotes the equality rights of women through legal education, research and law reform advocacy. The Student Law Society serves as a liaison between the student body and CAWL.
