New and current law students may apply for scholarships, awards, bursaries and differential fee bursaries online. By completing one Faculty of Law Awards application form online, applicants will be considered for all scholarships, awards and bursaries listed here with the exception of those stating "no application required." The application deadline is May 1. Where no application information is listed, the award is made automatically by the Academic Status Committee based on stated criteria, without the need for an application.

Unless otherwise stated, the following policies are in effect with regard to University administered awards:
The UCalgary Law Entrance Awards of Excellence are prestige awards offered annually by the Faculty of Law to those students who are considered by the faculty to best reflect excellence in their undergraduate achievements. There is no financial need component attached to these awards. They will be awarded no later than March 31 of the year an offer of admission is made to prospective recipients. All applicants are automatically considered for these awards. The following is a list of awards that will be offered for Fall 2017 admissions, valued at up to $260,000:
Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP $20,000 Entrance Scholarship (the “BDP Scholarship”), valued at up to $60,000 ($20,000 in each of three years in the JD program) based on academic merit and community leadership. It is renewable in each of second and third year of the JD program based on a minimum GPA of 3.2 achieved and a minimum of 24 units in the previous fall and winter terms in the Faculty of Law. The BDP Scholarship is our most prestigious entrance award and the largest award of its kind at a law school in Canada. See the following biographies of past recipients.

The Faculty of Law Undergraduate Merit Scholarships, valued at up to $30,000 ($10,000 in each of three years in the JD Program) are based on academic merit and are offered to three (3) students entering the first year of their JD Program. They are renewable in each of second and third years of the JD program based on a minimum GPA of 3.2 achieved and a minimum of 24 units in the previous fall and winter terms in the Faculty of Law.
The Dean of Law Awards of Excellence valued at $15,000 each. These entrance awards are offered to two (2) students entering the first year of their JD Program. They are given on the basis of academic merit.
Faculty of Law Undergraduate Awards of Excellence valued at $10,000 each. These entrance awards are offered to four (4) students entering the first year of their JD Program. They are given on the basis of academic merit.
The Faculty of Law NREEL Entrance Scholarship valued at $10,000. This entrance award is given to one (1) student entering the first year of the JD program on the basis of past academic or professional excellence in an area related to Natural Resources, Energy & the Environment, with an interest in pursuing this area of law post-graduation.
Scholarships available for Varsity Athletes:
JD Program Entrance Scholarships in Law valued at $10,000 each. These entrance awards are given on the basis of academic merit and previous or current membership on a university intercollegiate athletic team to two (2) students entering their first year of the JD program. You must apply for scholarships and awards to be eligible for these awards.
