Background

Biography

Arlene holds a MA (Philosophy) from Wayne State University, a LLB from the University of Alberta, and an LLM from Lewis and Clark Northwestern School of Law, Portland, Oregon, where she was a recipient of a Distinguished Environmental Law Graduate Award. Prior to joining the University of Calgary in 2003, Arlene's law practice was with the Environmental Law Centre (Edmonton, Alberta) for 11 years, the last two as Executive Director. At the Faculty of Law Arlene was Associate Dean (Research), Graduate Director, and ABlawg Coordinator 2011-2013. Arlene retired as Professor Emerita in 2014.

Arlene is a Senior Research Fellow with the Canadian Institute of Resources Law and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Design.
