A message from Faculty of Nursing dean Catherine Laing

I am pleased to announce that Stacy Oke has accepted a new leadership role within the Faculty of Nursing as the Associate Dean, Teaching & Learning, effective July 1, 2025.

Stacy has been an integral member of the Faculty of Nursing since 2011, bringing deep commitment and meaningful contributions across a range of academic roles. Most recently, she has served as the Clinical Placement Coordinator, where she has been instrumental in ensuring high-quality, well-supported clinical experiences for our students, while also building and maintaining strong partnerships with healthcare agencies.

Her extensive involvement in diverse teaching modalities, curriculum development, and collaborative engagement with faculty, staff, and community members reflects her inclusive leadership philosophy and dedication to student-centered education. She is a strong advocate for dynamic, collaborative learning environments that promote excellence and innovation.

Originally from Newfoundland, Stacy has spent much of her nursing career in Alberta, with experience in public health nursing and as a nurse educator with Alberta Health Services. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing (2014) from Trinity Western University and a Nurse Educator certification through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing.

As she steps into this new leadership role, her main priority will be overseeing the complete roll-out of the new BScN curriculum—a significant milestone for our faculty and one that will require continued collaboration, clarity, and care.

In addition, Stacy will lead strategic efforts in teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, and faculty development to support our evolving educational goals. Outside of her professional life, Stacy enjoys watching Netflix, dining out, and spending time with her animals. When away from work, she can often be found in the mountains of British Columbia with her family, enjoying the sand, surf and sun.

Please join me in congratulating Stacy on her appointment as Associate Dean, Teaching & Learning. I look forward to the contributions she will bring to this important role and the continued positive impact she will have on our faculty and students.
