Ambassadors are current student with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ambassadors can provide you with honest and thorough impressions and information about UCalgary Law, and can be a great resource for you as you transition to law school.
Tours of the law school
Student ambassadors can provide you with tours of Murray Fraser Hall and key UCalgary buildings. These are an excellent opportunity to explore the law school and to speak to current students about their experiences.
Tours last about 60 minutes and begin at our Student Services Office, located at Murray Fraser Hall 2380.

My name is Jack Goranson, I am a 1L student, eagerly searching for my calling in the study of law. I am a sports enthusiast, patron of all music, and a devotee to self-improvement (lots to learn).
I am a 1L student who was born in Albania and raised in Calgary. I have an accounting degree from UofC and I’ve completed a few internships in the renewable energy sector and at a Big 4 firm.
I am a 1L student with a Bachelor's in Health Science and a couple years' study in Philosophy. My parents are Vietnamese immigrants who met and raised my siblings and I here in Calgary. I am passionate about my faith and hope to pursue a career in either immigration law or criminal law.
My name is Sterling Hillman, I am a 1L from Surrey, BC. I graduated in May with a Bachelor of Environment in Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University. I enjoy camping, fishing, canoeing, cycling, and gardening, and I am interested in working in the legal field of natural resource development.
I am a 1L student from Vancouver, with a degree in Applied Animal Biology from UBC. I was born in South Korea but my family immigrated to B.C. when I was 9 years old. I have worked at an animal clinic as a veterinary office assistant for several years. During my leisure time, I love to go on hikes with my dog and cuddle with my cat. I chose UCalgary law since I fell in love with the city ever since I first moved to Calgary in 2017.
Erika is a first-year law student at the University of Calgary. She was born in Edmonton and completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Alberta. She now calls Calgary home and loves heading out to the mountains on the weekends. Erika is a member of the Law intramural volleyball team and a volunteer at Student Legal Assistance.
I am a 1L student from Nashville, TN. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2020 with a bachelors in Management and Marketing. In my free time, I love spending time with my dog, reading, and travelling.
Hello! My name is Lauren Peebles, I am a 1L, and I came to UCalgary, Faculty of Law by way of a Chemistry and Business Degree from UVIc. I am an avid runner, a pretty decent chess player and a stellar person to share their experiences of moving from the wet coast to Calgary.

Hi there, I’m Lindsay! I am a 1L. I am originally from Vancouver, where I graduated from UBC with my undergrad in political science and international relations. For two years after graduation, I worked for a Member of Parliament in Ottawa and then briefly with the Government of Alberta in Edmonton.
Jennifer has a political science degree from the University of Calgary. She had a career in marketing and communications in the oil and gas services, technology and financial industries before coming to law school. She chose UCalgary due to her positive experience attending undergrad at the school, the access to the Calgary legal market and the unique experimental learning opportunities available at the UCalgary Faculty of Law.
I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Minor in Commerce with the University of British Columbia in 2019 and currently still, reside in Vancouver BC. I was, however, born in Ottawa and grew up in Hong Kong and Indonesia, prior to returning to Canada to complete my undergraduate studies.
Ryan is from Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta where he received his Commerce degree while majoring in Business Economics and Law. Throughout undergrad he was heavily involved in academic research, correctional reform with CSC, as well as a number of access to justice initiatives. Outside of school, Ryan enjoys exploring Calgary for new coffee or craft beer spots, and can often be found playing/watching sports.
I attended the University of Alberta to study Mechanical Engineering where I spent my summers working in research groups, but chose to study law in Calgary because of the small class sizes, proximity to law firms, and my love for the city. Outside the class I spend time with the Ambulance Chasers volleyball team, running, playing piano, and training for my private pilot's license.
My name is Joelle Schock. I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration in Edmonton at NAIT, and I look forward to pursuing a career in Corporate Law in the future.
Charlotte is originally from Calgary and has an undergraduate honours degree in Law and Society from the U of C. Throughout her undergrad, Charlotte worked for the Students Union and coordinated volunteer programs. Outside of school she enjoys yoga, making homemade pasta, and watching speed skating.
Erin completed her undergrad in wildlife biology & conservation at the University of Guelph. She worked in the environmental sector in Saskatchewan and Alberta, spent time abroad, and worked for a tech start-up in Ontario. Erin is interested in pursuing environmental and regulatory law and chose UCalgary because of the faculty's strong focus on natural resources, energy, and environmental law.
Hi, my name is Thea, and I am a 2L. I grew up in Calgary, but attended the University of Toronto for my HBA in political science. I chose UCalgary because of the small class sizes, excellent professors, and the close relationship UCalgary has with Calgary’s legal community. I am also a volunteer with SLA. Outside of law school, I enjoy exploring Calgary’s restaurants and skiing in the Rockies.
Saveria is from Calgary and completed her BA in Political Science at UCalgary. During her undergraduate degree, she worked at a non-profit organization and formed a club on campus to support people with disabilities. She decided to continue at UCalgary for law school because of its collegial atmosphere and renowned faculty. Saveria enjoys playing sports, cooking, and visiting museums.
Sabrina was born and raised in Calgary and completed her BA in Political Science from UCalgary, while also working as a music instructor. Sabrina is involved in the mooting program and with Student Legal Assistance as a Group Leader and Legal Needs Coordinator. Sabrina was drawn to UCalgary Law’s strong sense of community and the program’s experiential approach to learning.
My name is Karly and I am a second-year student and member of the Student Ambassador Executive for the 2020-2021 year. I completed my undergraduate degree at Queen's University with a major in English. I am originally from Vancouver Island and hope to have a legal career in Vancouver.
I am a second-year student who was born and raised in Calgary. I participated in SLA and Alberta Law Review in law school. I have a degree in chemistry and was very close to not attending law school, so I am happy to talk to anyone navigating the choice between law and other fields. Outside of law school, I love writing for my blog, cycling, and endlessly rewatching Seinfeld.
Katie is from Toronto and completed a BAH in English at Queen’s University. After graduation she received a certificate in Public Relations from Humber College and spent two years working at public relations agencies in downtown Toronto. During her first year in University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law Katie participated in PBSC and worked as a university research assistant over the summer.
Hi there! I’m Laura – I’m a born and raised Calgary girl and a second year law student here at the University of Calgary. I did my undergraduate the University of Victoria in Psychology, and before that was heavily involved in sport. I spent the summer working in at a large corporate firm, and I love Calgary and am always happy to chat about what’s good here!

Saranjit graduated from York University in 2019, with an honours double major in Law & Society and English. She is involved in the Calgary Women Studying Law Association as their Director of Marketing. She is also involved with the Black Law Students Association as an ally. In 1L she worked at the Trans ID clinic as part of her role with PBSC, and is gearing up to work at the Queen's Bench Amicus program this year. When taking a break from law school stuff she enjoys watching the Bachelorette, Netflix and eating food.
Flutra is a second-year student at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. Flutra graduated from the University of Calgary with a major in Political Science. During her first year in law school, Flutra volunteered with PBSC as a Discovery House Volunteer and worked as a research associate at Viewpoint Group over the summer.
My name is Paul and I am a 2L law student here at the University of Calgary. I love to coach Special Olympics hockey, and am the proud father of a 3-year-old flat coated retriever named Luca.
Ronald is a mature student from Vancouver and has worked in the federal government and insurance industry. He is a member of the University of Calgary's Appeals Tribunal and previously volunteered with Student Legal Assistance.
My name is Carly and I am a 2L. I was born and raised in Calgary and did my undergrad degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. A.J. is a mature student from Manitoba, with two children, and who completed undergraduate studies in Communication and Media and Law and Society at the University of Calgary. He is involved with Student Legal Assistance as a group leader and is a project lead for the Hearsay Podcast with Pro Bono Students Canada.
Erin (3L) came to law school after taking an undergraduate degree in earth sciences and music at Dalhousie University. She chose UCalgary for law school because of its focus on experiential learning, smaller class sizes, and access to Calgary's legal market. Among other activities, she's participated in Pro Bono Students Canada, Student Legal Assistance, and the Environmental Law Society. Originally from Calgary, she loves running the river pathway and getting out to the mountains.
Kyle is a third year student with a business undergrad. Prior to law school, Kyle worked in digital advertising for a global agency and with local businesses completing a variety of digital marketing activities. After graduation, Kyle will be articling with a large regional firm and hopes to pursue a career in commercial litigation.
Neal holds a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Environment from McGill. He returned to his hometown for the excellent experiential learning opportunities, the tight-nit collegial environment and of course, the mountains. Neal is currently involved in Student Legal Assistance as Deputy Student Director and Trial Division Coordinator and is also a member of the Law Ambassador Executive.
Ana graduated from the Haskayne School of Business in 2018, with a major in HR and minor in Chinese Language. Ana has volunteered with with PBSC (Elementary Mock Trial project) and participated in negotiation and moot competitions. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, and making course-specific study playlists.
Neil is a born and raised Calgarian but went away to U of T for his degree in civil engineering. He moved back to Calgary and practiced engineering for nine years before deciding to go to law school, including two as an entrepreneur. Neil is happy to offer insights on career change and juggling law school with a young special needs daughter. He volunteers with the Alberta Law Review and his downtime is consumed with board games, video games and trashy science fiction.
Kara is a 3L student and member of the Law Student Ambassador Executive team from Winnipeg, MB. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Manitoba and her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Kara chose to come to the University of Calgary for law school because of the “hands on” learning approach and welcoming community. When she is not stuck in the library, Kara enjoys going to spin classes, walking her dogs, and heading out to try new restaurants with her friends.
I am a 3L student from Calgary, but attended my first year of law school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Prior to law school, I worked in human resources for an international oil and gas company for eight years. I am hoping to use this experience and specialize in employment and labour law.
Kai was born in Calgary and spent his teenage years in Ontario. He has an degree in anthropology but none of the big downtown anthropology firms were hiring. Kai’s interests in law school has centered around corporate law and fintech and he can speak to students who have a desire to pivot fields in law school. Kai is also married with 2 young children and can speak to life as a mature student. Kai enjoys camping with his family, playing rugby, and keeping his daughters out of the background of zoom calls.
