Ambassadors are current student with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ambassadors can provide you with honest and thorough impressions and information about UCalgary Law, and can be a great resource for you as you transition to law school.
Tours of the law school
Student ambassadors can provide you with tours of Murray Fraser Hall and key UCalgary buildings. These are an excellent opportunity to explore the law school and to speak to current students about their experiences.
Tours last about 60 minutes and begin at our Student Services Office, located at Murray Fraser Hall 2380.

Meet your ambassadors
Jordan is a second year law student at the University of Calgary. He was born in Calgary but raised in the Okanagan. He attended UBCO, where he majored in English and minored in history. After graduating, Jordan moved back to Calgary looking for work and to make a stronger connection with his family living there. Jordan is involved with PBSC's Queen’s Bench Amicus program.
Ashley was born and raised in Edmonton. She has completed both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Business Economics and Law from the University of Alberta. Drawn to the practical approach that the law school offers and the mountains close-by, as a second year student she has first-hand experience navigating all that being a law student at the University of Calgary has to offer.
Tristan is from the lower mainland of BC. He has a BA in Poli Sci, with a minor in Philosophy from UVic. After his undergrad Tristan worked for a few years at a youth empowerment charity. Drawn to the smaller class size and the city itself, Tristan can provide insight into moving to Calgary. Tristan currently volunteers with PBSC, and plays on the Law Rugby and basketball teams.
David is a second year student at the Faculty of Law. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business Law and Economics at the University of Alberta. He currently volunteers with Pro Bono Students Canada working on the Youth Law Project, providing assistance to Calgary Youth in navigating the legal system. David enjoys daily naps, playing basketball and falling behind on readings.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Stephen is a history major that completed his undergraduate degree in the UK and his Masters in Canada. Stephen is a member of a number of societies including: the Criminal Law Society, the Environmental Law Society, and the Moot Times. Stephen is always happy to offer guidance on navigating law school, and all things football related.
Richard graduated from UCalgary in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Chinese. Richard chose UCalgary Law for the extensive volunteer opportunities, great student community and to be close to his family. Richard loves to cook and travel, but he is better known for making ironic reviews of instant noodles (@ramen_empire). Tours available in English, Mandarin and Korean.
Neal holds a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Environment from McGill. He returned to his home town and UCalgary for the excellent experiential learning opportunities, the tight-nit collegial environment and of course, the mountains. Neal is currently involved in Student Legal Assistance as a Group Leader, intramural hockey and the Law Ambassador Executive. Neal enjoys climbing and reading fantasy books.
Neil is a born and raised Calgarian but went away to U of T for his degree in civil engineering. He moved back to Calgary and practiced engineering for nine years before deciding to go to law school. Neil is happy to offer insights on career change and juggling law school with a young special needs daughter. He volunteers with the Alberta Law Review and enjoys board games, video games and trashy science fiction.
Kyle summered at MLT Aikins during his 1L summer, working with the litigation and corporate law teams. He plays on the rugby and hockey teams and can answer questions about the intramural teams. Kyle had a career in advertising before returning to school, and can answer questions about being a mature student in law school.
Katie is from Toronto and completed a BAH in English at Queen’s University. After graduation she received a certificate in Public Relations from Humber College and spent the past two years working at public relations agencies in downtown Toronto. Having always wanted to pursue a career in law, Katie selected University of Calgary for its stellar program, small class size, excellent professors and proximity to the mountains.
Rhys was born and raised in Calgary, and completed his BFA in Drama specializing in Technical Theatre & Production at the UAlberta in 2015. During and following this degree he spent several years working in the live entertainment and live event industries and continues to do so when he has time. Rhys is involved with PBSC. Outside of the classroom he enjoys cooking, collecting cookbooks, and cuddling with his cat.
Caroline is from Toronto and did her undergraduate at Queen's University with a major in political science, a minor in drama, and a certificate of law. She is a certified dance teacher and ski instructor. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, travelling, and swimming.
Erin completed her undergrad in wildlife biology & conservation at the University of Guelph. She worked in the environmental sector in Saskatchewan and Alberta, spent time abroad, and worked for a tech start-up in Ontario. Erin is interested in pursuing environmental and regulatory law and chose UCalgary because of the faculty's strong focus on natural resources, energy, and environmental law.
Kyla received her BA in English from UAlberta, with a minor in sociology. During her undergrad she worked as a writing tutor, and has now joined the elementary mock trial project with Pro Bono Students Canada. She is thrilled to be attending law school in her hometown, and is happy to talk to prospective students about Calgary, the city's ever-changing weather, her experience in law school.
A.J. was born in Winnipeg, but spent time in southern Ontario and Alberta. He completed BA (Hons.) in Law & Society, as well as Communications & Media Studies at UCalgary. The interaction between the legal profession and communications via traditional and new media sources is of particular interest to A.J. As a parent and mature student, he can speak to people about the associated challenges as a law student.
Lisa is from Red Deer and completed her undergrad in Spanish Language and Literature at UAlberta. She chose UCalgary because of the many experiential learning and networking opportunities available Lisa can answer questions about extra-curriculars, clubs, or debating. She is the social media/marketing coordinator for PBSC, the vice-chair of the CBA students’ section, and chapter president of UCalgary's Runnymede Society.
My name is Kate and I was born and raised in Calgary. My undergrad degree is in Social Work and my main focus area was Mental Health and Addictions. For fun I play soccer and spend time with my two big beautiful dogs.
Charlotte originally from Calgary and has an undergraduate honours degree in Law and Society from UCalgary. Throughout her undergrad, Charlotte worked for the Students Union and coordinated volunteer programs. Outside of school she enjoys yoga, making homemade pasta, painting pottery, and watching speed skating.
Farhan earned his Kinesiology degree from UAlberta and his interest in law stemmed from his 4th year ethics course. After graduation, Farhan worked as a Personal Trainer while he prepped for the LSAT. Once the LSAT was written, it became the perfect excuse for him to travel around Europe. Farhan’s Kinesiology background is still quite influential in his life as he enjoys to weight train during his free time.
Hi, my name is Karly! I am from a small town, Port McNeill, on the north end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I received my undergrad degree in English Literature from Queen’s University. After graduating in 2018, I spent one year working for the BC government as a Recruitment Clerk. This year I am on the law school’s rugby team and I am a member of Pro Bono Students Canada.
Claire graduated from UVic with a BSc in Biochemistry and a minor in Psychology. Following graduation, she researched leukemia at the BC Cancer Agency before backpacking around Asia for 6 months. Claire then moved to Australia where she lived and travelled for two years. Claire has been involved with Student Legal Assistance Pro Bono Students Canada. Outside of school Claire enjoys skiing, golf, travel and hiking.
Kai was born in Calgary but spent most of his life in Toronto. He moved to New Orleans for a few years, then attended the University of Lethbridge for a BA in Anthropology. He spent 10 years in construction in various roles. He has two children and can speak to life as a married student and parent. Kai chose UCalgary for the proximity to the legal market and the investment the school makes in helping students work locally.
Thea grew up in Calgary and completed her HBA in Political Science from the University of Toronto. During her undergraduate degree, she worked for a Member of Parliament. Thea is involved with Pro Bono Students Canada (the Consent Project) and plays on Law School's intramural volleyball team. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, travelling, and exploring Calgary's food scene.
Carly was born and raised in Calgary, and earned a degree in Mind Sciences in Kinesiology from UCalgary. Carly spent a few years working and competing as a professional show jumper (equestrian) throughout North America and western Europe. Carly chose UCalgary for the collegial feel, 'Calgary Curriculum', and for the benefits of a close connection with the Calgary market.
Sabrina graduated from UCalgary with a BA in Political Science. She was drawn to UCalgary Law’s strong sense of community and the program’s innovative, hands-on approach to learning. Sabrina is involved with Student Legal Assistance, Pro Bono Students Canada and UCalgary’s Student Medical Response Team. Sabrina enjoys hot yoga, playing music, and hiking/skiing.
I’m Laura and I’m a first year law student here at UofC. I’m originally a Calgarian, however I completed my undergraduate at the University of Victoria in Psychology. I’m an avid coffee shop study-er, and craft beer drinker so if you need a spot don’t hesitate to reach out!
Ryan was born and raised in London, Ontario, and attended the University of Western Ontario to study Criminology and Political Science. He has lived and worked in both Edmonton and Calgary. Michelle completed a bachelor of Kinesiology with a minor in Anthropology from UCalgary. After graduation Michelle backpacked Europe and worked in a physiotherapy clinic before deciding to pursue law school. In first year Michelle participated in SLA and was a founding member of the Health Law Association. Michelle chose UCalgary Law because of the unique Calgary Curriculum and connections to Calgary's legal market.
Saran graduated from York University in 2019 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society/English before moving to Calgary to study law. Saran is involved in Pro Bono Students Canada as well as being the Director of Marketing for the Calgary Women Studying Law Association. When she’s not on campus, she’s probably reading, writing, watching films, and doing something pertaining to food.
I was born in Toronto and raised in Calgary. I did my undergrad in Energy Economics at UCalgary. I am the father to a beautiful 1.5 year old three-legged flat coated retriever mix named Luca (ask me for picture, I have thousands). My favourite extra curricular activity is the volunteer work that I do with Special Olympics Calgary. I also love sports (playing and watching) and binge watch Netflix with my boy.
MacKenzie completed her undergrad Criminology degree at Western University in London, Ontario and participated in an exchange at the University of Southampton (England). MacKenzie has worked in various government ministries and most recently worked at the Canadian Red Cross. MacKenzie is involved in Student Legal Assistance, Pro Bono Students Canada, The Criminal Law Society and intramurals (volleyball and rugby).
Bailey graduated from UCalgary with a BA in Economics with an Applied Energy Concentration. She coaches youth club soccer, enjoys hiking on the weekends, and loves traveling in Europe. She worked in oil and gas and capital markets, and hopes to incorporate her knowledge into her career. Bailey chose UCalgary Law because of the tight-knit student community and experiential curriculum.
Alexandra completed her undergrad in Communications at UCalgary in 2017. She worked for the United Way supporting their fundraising efforts and learning about the important network of social services that support out city. Alexandra is involved in Student Legal Assistance and a number of other groups. She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, being active, and spending time on creative projects
Jesse is from Calgary and completed her BA hons. in Political Science at UCalgary. She has worked for the Government of Alberta as an Analyst of Strategic Public Policy and is hoping to build on these skills in the legal profession. Jesse is a volunteer caseworker with Student Legal Assistance, represents 1L’s on faculty council, and plays on the intramural volleyball team.
Hi, my name is Ben and I am a first year law student. I am originally from Coldstream, BC but I have lived in Calgary since my early teens. I did my undergraduate in history with a focus on healthcare distribution systems in the Canadian Arctic, here at U of C as well. I chose Calgary for law because of the great article rate, small class sizes and familiarity with the city.
Natalie was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta and completed her BA in Poli Sci and Sociology at UAlberta. She worked at Legal Aid Alberta before starting law school. Her area of interest is criminal and public sector law. Natalie is on the executive for the new Criminal Law Society, the Canadian Bar Association National Student Section and the rugby team. She is part of Student Legal Assistance’ and a volunteer with Pro Bono Students Canada.
Ronald is from Vancouver and earned his BA (Hons) from Simon Fraser University in criminology with dual minors in business administration and sociology. He completed his undergrad thesis on the factors influencing legal aid participation by lawyers. He spent several years working for federal government departments and a provincial Crown Corporation. He is a caseworker with SLA and chose UCalgary Law for its career-focused curriculum.
Ellen graduated from the University of Victoria in 2016 with a B.A in Political Science and a minor in History. Ellen always wanted to pursue a career in law and took a year off to gain work experience before starting at Calgary Law. Ellen liked what Calgary Law had to offer such as a smaller class size, a connection to a major legal market, and opportunities to volunteer with SLA and PBSC.
Chris was born and raised in Calgary, and completed his BA hons. in Poli Sci at UCalgary, as well as worked for a major Canadian airline for over six years. Chris chose UCalgary for its focus on practical legal skills, interactive learning methods, and its great reputation in the Calgary legal market. Chris is a volunteer caseworker at Student Legal Assistance, as well as an avid hiker in the mountains around Calgary.
Ana is a 2018 UCalgary graduate from the Haskayne School of Business, majoring in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources. In her undergrad, she enjoyed doing case competitions, taking language courses, and drinking copious amounts of Brew & Blendz, the best coffee on campus. Ana is involved in Pro Bono Students Canada and the Blackstone Debate Competition, and volunteers for UCalgary’s USpeak Global program.
Alex is from Thunder Bay, Ontario where he completed his HBA in Sociology, and received the “Outstanding Graduating Sociology Student Award” from the Canadian Sociological Association. Alex chose UCalgary for the curriculum, positive reputation in the legal market and proximity to the mountains. Alex is a caseworker with SLA. He is an avid snowboarder/long-boarder and enjoys taking part in other outdoor activities.
Florence chose to return to Calgary for law school because of the beautiful Alberta landscape and the experienced based curriculum that Calgary offers. She has previously completed a BScH and MA in Kinesiology at Queen’s. Florence has joined many clubs but is most involved in SLA and PBSC. When she’s not reading up for classes (or joining more things) you can find Florence walking her dog Bruce in the mountains.
Kara grew up in Winnipeg, and attended the University of Manitoba where she received a BA in Psychology. Following that, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. After working as an elementary school teacher for a few years, she decided on a career change to become a lawyer. Kara was drawn to UCalgary for their unique commitment to developing the law school experience through the Calgary Curriculum.
Mitch studied English and Political Science at Simon Fraser. Prior law school he worked in post-secondary student services in Vancouver and helped international students transition into higher education. He is currently volunteering with SLA and the school newspaper, Moot Times. Mitch enjoys soccer, cooking, and starting blankly into the void.
Erin grew up in Calgary, then went to Dalhousie University for a BSc. in Earth Sciences/minor in Music. She chose UCalgary for law because of its focus on experiential learning, smaller class sizes, and access to Calgary's legal market. Erin is currently involved with the Environmental Law Society and Student Legal Assistance. Outside of school, she likes singing in choir, running, and getting out to the mountains.
Catherine completed a BSc in Natural Resources Conservation while playing rugby for the UBC Thunderbirds. She moved to Vienna to pursue as MSc in Forest and Environmental Policy. Catherine chose UCalgary because of the opportunities in Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law, and the close connection to the Calgary legal community. Catherine is a member of the Dinos Women’s Varsity Rugby team and a keen hiker.
