Legal Services at UCalgary Law

UCalgary Law is home to several low-cost or pro bono legal clinics, giving you the help you need while giving students valuable learning experiences.

Student Legal Assistance (SLA)

Student Legal Assistance provides free legal information and representation to low-income residents of Calgary and the surrounding regions. Student caseworkers can also provide assistance with trial confirmation and outreach services, including public legal information seminars through City of Calgary agencies.

BLG Business Venture Clinic

If you are an entrepreneur or launching a start-up business, the BLG Business Venture Clinic can help you with your legal questions. Students in the clinic can help draft memos on topics like early round financing, the pros and cons of different business structures, employment issues, intellectual property and possible sources of liability.


Public Interest Law Clinic

The Public Interest Law Clinic is open to individuals, community organizations, non-governmental organizations and law reform groups who want to change the system, in areas such as environmental assessment processes, landlord-tenant dispute resolution, and environmental protection.

Tax Court Assistance Program

If you’ve been audited or reassessed by the Canada Revenue Agency and don’t agree with the result, the Tax Court Assistance Program (TCAP) may be able to help. The program is designed to help low-income Calgarians with tax dispute resolution.
