JD Referee Information
Information for Referees
Thank you very much for acting as a referee to support an application to UCalgary Law. UCalgary Law conducts a comprehensive assessment of applications; thoughtful comments and a frank assessment of your experiences with the applicant are greatly appreciated.
References are only used for upper-year (Transfer, LOP, and IELP) applications to the JD program. References are no longer used for first-year admissions.
How to submit your reference
References are provided through the Online Reference Form, accessed through the unique link in your email.
Space is provided within the online reference form to provide additional comments, up to approximately 500 words. A separate refence letter cannot be added to the application.
If you have any problems accessing the online reference form, you can instead email a completed PDF version of the form to law@ucalgary.ca.
Reference submission deadlines
The deadline will also appear in the email you received, in the following format: YYYY-MM-DD
June 1
Reference deadline for Transfer applications and Fall Letter of Permission applications (11:59 p.m. MDT)
Aug. 1
Reference deadline for IELP applications (11:59 p.m. MDT)
